About
In a world that appears increasingly polarized, it may seem to some that the only solution, the only safety, is to declare those who are different from us as "other" and fight against them and what we think they stand for.
But there is another way.
At the heart of most hatred and violence is fear or pain.
What if instead of going to battle, we opened our hearts and minds long enough to see and hear that pain? What if we learned to hold it?
What if standing "as witnesses of God at all times and in all things, and in all places," is not just about declaring our testimonies of God, but is also about learning to recognize God IN all times and all things and all places. What if standing as a witness is being present and seeing the children of God before us as who they really are?
This project is not the first to address our need to listen and understand; similar work has been done in many times and places.
This is a place for telling your stories.
This is a place to find and recognize beauty.
This is a place for healing to begin.
At Gossamer Threads, you are invited to share:
1. Your own stories of pain and struggle and what sustains you. (If you do not feel safe sharing your story with your name attached, please message an admin who will post in anonymously.)
2. Links to blogs, news articles, podcasts, etc. that promote deep listening and understanding.
3. Beauty (art, nature, music, poetry, etc.) that asks us to look deeper at ourselves and the world.
